Network Advisory Committee & Database Selection Print Page


Selection for Traveler is discussed during the last quarter of each year by the Network Advisory Committee. The committee reviews the current subscription and determines whether or not to send out a RFI (Request of Information) for additional online products or renew all or some of the current subscriptions.


If an RFI is sent out, vendors provide demonstration the products online to the committee. The vendors include those with existing subscriptions and those requested by the Traveler participants. The RFI is sent out in October/November and due back in early January. A recommendation of the committee’s decision is made to the Arkansas State Library Board at the February board meeting. This allows libraries the purchase addition database with their funds to review the Traveler subscription when making their selection.


Mission Statement / Selection


Shall advise and make recommendations to the State Librarian and agency staff regarding cooperative technology development in Arkansas libraries, which may include the establishment, development and operation of library networks and resource sharing activities for which the State Library has a major responsibility. Subcommittees may be appointed to advance the goals, objectives, activities, and purposes provided in the Five -Year Plan.


Membership on the Committee shall be by appointment of the State Librarian and shall be broadly representative of library entities in the s t at e, and may include public, school, academic, special, and institutional libraries, and libraries serving individuals with disabilities. Terms shall be for two years or until successors are appointed.
